Overview
Founded in 1951, MMCO Ltd. is the result of a partnership
between the Taylor Smith Group and the Molasses Trading Co.,
a division of Tate & Lyle (UK). |
Our main focus is the export of molasses to Europe and the USA,
averaging at around 65,000 metric tones annually. In addition, we
supply the local market with molasses (approximately 20,000 metric
tones annually), as well as managing around 60% of the production
of molasses in Mauritius.
Strategy
Our
aim is to be the leading company in the molasses logistics process
in the Indian Ocean Region, providing a service that is safe and
in-keeping with the expectations of our customers.

Transport
and storage of molasses
Mauritius
Molasses Co. Ltd stores molasses from sugar mills across the island
in tanks located in Port Louis with a maximum capacity of 23,000
metric tones. The molasses are then exported to Europe or USA.
